I hope to get this running on battery powered by solar at some point. 
      I have done some calculations on how much battery storage capacity I will
      need to not overly cycle the batteries. I am burning about 250watts 
      currently while under high CPU load.  I will be designing some type of 
      circuit to swap from my 24V 750W AC->DC converter to battery and solar 
      when I have excess from the panels or as a UPS when I loose AC.

 This is the battery enclosure I am looking at.
It will hold 6 group 31 12v ~105ah batteries. Using sealed AGM batteries will be more expensive but will avoid any ventlation issues.

Deep-Cycle Flooded cell battery manufacturers recommend a 4 to 1 ratio between battery bank size and the largest load encountered on board.
AGM and Gel cell manufacturers recommend a ratio of at least 3 to 1, a significant difference for loads such as the engine starter or windlass.
The water needs of flooded cells can be reduced via the use of Hydrocaps, which facilitate the recombination of Oxygen and Hydrogen during the charging process.
